| Invitational presented by Harrah's Tunica |
 The MBN invitational presented by Harrah's Tunica will be held on March 9 - 10, 2012. This contest is an invitational only contest for Grand Champions, Passdown winners and Team of the Year Winners from the GBA, the FBA, and the NEBS. This contest will include only one ancillary contest on Friday night. This ancillary is a mystery and the product to be featured will not be revealed until the cooks meeting at 4:00pm. The contest awards ceremony on Saturday evening will also include the MBN awards for the Team of the Year for 2011. We will also be recognizing the top ten teams from the East and West divisions along with honors to the top Hog, Shoulder and Rib cooking teams from 2011. There will be a cash bar and finger foods available. Come on down to Tunica and show your support for the best BBQ cooking teams on the planet. |

The MBN invitational presented by Harrah's Tunica will be held on March 9 - 10, 2012. Availability to judge Saturday? 6. Will you be available to judge on Friday night? Harrah's has made arrangements for discounted room rates for Friday and Saturday night. Please call 866-635-7095 and reference group code S03MBN2 when making your reservation. We have one ancillary scheduled for Friday at 6:30pm. This ancillary will be a mystery entry. The teams will be given the product to cook at the end of the cooks meeting beginning at 4:00pm. Please answer all 6 questions. Incompletes will be used only in case the judge's field is not complete. |

| New Division Series |
| Memphis Barbecue Network is setting up a new division for BBQ contest organizers that retains the flavor of a MBN contest but will help contests in recruiting local teams to cook in their hometown event. This division reduces the cost to the teams by limiting categories, judging rounds and type of materials and garnish for teams qualifying for the finals round. This division is called the Challenger series and is our effort to sanction bbq organizers current backyard contests. This division would allow for local teams to compete with each other and in the case of backyard only competitions it would allow MBN pro teams to compete against the local teams that are on smaller budgets and with less polished presentation skills. The Challenger series would consist of blind preliminary scoring, and for teams making finals it would consist of onsite finals with 4 judges being presented to each team qualifying for finals in one group. Categories for this division would be pulled pork and pork ribs. For interested organizers we have a manual available for teams and organizers who wish to participate in this division. The Challenger contest winner would receive an invitation to cook at the MBN invitational the following contest season. The Challenger contest winner would also accrue points toward Challenger team of the year award.
